Yes, José Mourinho’s Benfica remains unbeaten in the entire league campaign (22 wins and 11 draws), but for now, they are set to miss out on Champions League football next season.
Mourinho’s side drew 2-2 at home against Carlos Vicens’ Sporting Braga, leaving them in third place with only one matchday left. Sporting Clube Portugal also won tonight, moving two points clear of Benfica with one game to go, while Porto are already clear champions.
After the match, Mourinho said “his team played a great game” and refused to “talk about the referees,” one of the controversial aspects of the match.
The goals came from Silva and Pavlidis (a penalty in the 95th minute) for Benfica, while Pau Víctor and Gorby scored for the visitors.
