Remo 1 x 1 Palmeiras | Key moments | 15th round | Brazilian Championship 2026
A draw away from home isn’t always a bad result, especially in a points-based competition like the Brazilian Championship. However, this Sunday, after a 1-1 tie against Remo in Belém, Palmeiras left the field with a bitter taste. It felt like two points lost rather than one gained on the road.
The match started with trouble as a heavy downpour in the capital of Pará delayed the kickoff by nearly two hours. Players had to warm up twice, and concentration wavered during the lost time. That became painfully clear just one minute into the game, when Murilo and Jefté misjudged a play and failed to track Yago Pikachu and Alef Manga. The challenge was then doubled.
“We started the way we didn’t want to. When you concede a goal, you need extra energy to chase the game. We conceded in the first minute, and we had to manage the match from behind,” said assistant coach João Martins in a press conference.

Palmeiras’ defense did not have one of its best afternoons. This was the tenth match out of 15 in the Brazilian Championship in which the team has conceded. It wasn’t Carlos Miguel’s fault—he was decisive again—but rather the system as a whole. Even Gustavo Gómez, the league’s most consistent center-back, suffered dribbles he usually avoids and faced difficulties in aerial duels.
Between the 15th minute of the first half and the same period in the second, Palmeiras managed to control the game. They equalized through Sosa and created other chances to take the lead, whether from Flaco López’s shots or dangerous runs by Allan, one of the most threatening players for Verdão in the match. Problems returned precisely when Zé Ricardo was sent off for a foul on Andreas Pereira.
Palmeiras failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage. Instead of playing the ball on the ground and finding the extra man, they opted for crosses into the box, making it easier for Remo’s defense. It almost worked—Bruno Fuchs put the ball in the net in stoppage time—but a handball by Flaco López ruled out another victory where Verdão proved to be more efficient than brilliant.

After the final whistle, both director of football Anderson Barros and assistant coach João Martins complained about the disallowed goal from Bruno Fuchs. But a team that wants to be champion and played with a man advantage for much of the second half shouldn’t focus only on that—especially against a side in the relegation zone and the worst home team in the Brasileirão.
